In a very kind act of generosity superstar Rajinikanth extended the release date of his upcoming film Kaala to 7 June from 27 April to make way for small producers and their films. Tamil film industry was on a strike for 48 days hence no film got released and the list of unreleased ones is rather long now. Rajini has given the as much space as he could to get a release and make their film work because a good Rajini film will run housefull for two weeks or maybe more hence nobody would come out with their releases.
Rajini extended his film by more than a month and supported the industry that has nurtured him for over three decades into the superstar he is. He did it despite of the fact that he has not had a release for 2 years now and ‘2.0’ can’t stop itself from getting postponed more than any film in the history, so much so that it still does not have a release date. Kaala is produced by Dhanush hence he deserves the credit for postponing the film to a date where it possibly does not bother any other film or at least not the one who are getting delayed.
Rajinikanth has massive fan expectations from Kaala as they have been waiting for him to come back on celluloid after the longest time since Kabali was mostly a disappointment for a major part of audience. In the larger scheme of things Kaala could be one of Rajini’s last films since he has announced his political intentions to compete in 2021 Tamil Nadu Chief minister elections. In Kaala, he is playing a man of people which has made him the superstar in the first place and in 2.0 he mostly plays a Robot. Rajini won’t be doing many films now because politics would take a lot of his time.
