Raid trailer released: Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’cruz star in this drama about Income tax raids in 1981

The trailer for the movie, Raid, has been released. The movie stars Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’curz, along with Saurabh Shukla in a pivotal role. Raid is based on the 1981 Income tax raids, and from the look of it, the movie is going to be an indictment of the tax evasion and corruption that plagues the country. Ajay plays Amay Patnaik, an income tax officials who carries out raids across the country to catch corrupt people. In the movie, he is seen in confrontation with Tauji, who is the most powerful and dangerous man in the state of Bihar.

The trailer is efficient and doesn’t waste time in songs and dance sequences. It begins with a raid, and escalates in drama and tension from there. The love story between Ajay and Ileana is understated and isn’t meant to smother the screen. But it would be good if D’cruz plays a character that is more dimensional than just a supporting wife.

Saurabh Shukla is also seems to be in his element, playing a corrupt man who couldn’t be any less interested in the rules and laws of the country. The visuals are all era appropriate and nothing looks too modern or out of place. Ajay Devgn is understated, but his performance is so wildly different in the trailer from the goofy persona of Golmaal franchise that he is just an exceptional actor. The hype for the movie is surely going to take speed after the very good trailer, and hopefully this will be another project that enlightens the audiences rather than just entertaining them.
