Padmavat to officially release on 25 January

After a very long and tiring haul, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most awaited film of all time PADMAVAT to release on 25 January 2018. Padmavat has faced as many problems from Karni sena and from censor board as possible and it’s about time hey showcase their mega budget epic drama to the audience. Padmavat was suppose to release on 1 December 2017 but due to protests from Karni sena in Rajasthan and close to no help from government, release of the film was postponed indefinitely. Padmavat is not the first film in the world to get into controversy with a radical religious group but this film went in the gamete of rabbit hole.

Padmavat stars Deepika Padukone as queen Padmini, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer singh as Allaudin Khilji. For 2 months this nation went into debacle if the queen Padmini is real or a fictitious character who merely exists in the poem Padmavat written by Malik Mohammad Jayasi. The most concerning thing regarding this controversy was the fundamental right to freedom of expression being snatched away by bunch of violent protestors who seem to be utterly unemployed and senseless about their decision of wanting this film banned because they never even saw the film.

Censor board refrained from clearing the film with their certificate because Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 productions could not fill a form properly. A month later censor board panel of historians to check the film for the facts before clearing it with a U/A Certificate and a changed title. Sanjay Leela Bhansali issued a video in the interest of his film way back saying that there is no scene between Allaudin Khilji and Rani Padmini in the film, apparently this was not enough for people to understand the nature of this film. Makers of the film released a trailer and 2 songs with videos and there is a whole album out there waiting to get released. Again, Padmavat will release on 25 January 2018.
