Padmavat faces ban from Rajasthan government

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic drama Padmavat has finally found a release date on 25 January. The film had to face immense struggle from violent protestors Karni sena who thought that film is distorting the history related to queen Padmini and a censor board who would not clear the film. Padmavat was suppose to release on 1st December but Karni sena protested a ban on the film or else they will either burn theaters or kill director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Radical Karni sena practically put 5 crore bounties on the heads of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone.

Finally the film will release worldwide except Rajasthan as the government their is banning the film from the state. Makers of the film and censor board has said it in many words that Padmavat is based on the poetry of Malik Mohammad Jayasi of the same name and the poetry was written about 200 years later than the perceived existence of Padmini. Rajasthan government is banning the film because they think their royal queen is being presented in wrong light though Bhansali clarified in a video that there is simply no scene between Allaudin Khilji and Padmini as they never met each other in reality or poetry.

Rajasthan is a big state with many exhibitors hence the film will have to suffer some kind of financial loss as Padman will be doing it’s business in there. Karni sena is planning a severe protest on January 27 in Chittorgarh and have asked their supporters to join them in their endeavors as they claim to not let queen Padmini’s sacrifice go in pain. Queen Padmini performed Johar with the rest of the women in Chittor when Khilji defeated Maharawal Ratan Singh. Khilji’s soldiers were known to kill the king and rape women of that region and to save that act of shame Padmini and the rest of the ladies burnt themselves in a really big constructed fire.
