Padmaavat box office: Consistently Crushing records globally

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial epic Padmaavat has turned out to be one of the most awaited films of all time in the history of Hindi cinema especially because of the controversy around it. On the preview night of Wednesday film earned an impressive 5 crore despite of not getting released in many places. Film is suffering about a fractured release and could not get theaters in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. While the film is losing on about one thousand screens and incredible number of audience, the distributors and exhibitors are totally missing out on the massive profits being made everywhere else in the country.

On the first day of the release, film banked unprecedented 19 crores making it the biggest opening ever for Ranveer Singh who seems to be the main attraction of the film despite the fact that he is the villain in this saga while protagonist is Shahid Kapoor and titular role belongs to Deepika Padukone. On foreign lands Padmaavat is smashing previous Hindi records as it earned 2.34 crores in United Kingdom in 2 days. In Germany film banked 52.45 lacs on Thursday as Friday figures are not reported yet.

Considering the fact that film does not have a global superstar in it like Shahrukh or Aamir Khan and still it is working phenomenal numbers which suggests that people are reacting to Bhansali’s grand spectacle and sheer brilliance of the film which is severely protested against in it’s country of origin even though it promotes the period time ideologies of King’s of this country which are honor, sacrifice, and valor still it is being beaten to pulp in new low’s everyday with Karni Sena announcing a film on Sanjay Bhansali’s mother titled “leela ki leela” which might release in one year and first shot will be taken in next 15 days. This amount of disrespect is maniacal for a respected citizen of this country.
