Padmaavat box office collection: Unbelievable for about half a release

Ranveer Singh starrer Padmaavat is getting all the love in the world and it is translating into the much needed box office. Padmaavat’s Wednesday paid preview collections were 5 crores, which is not bad considering protestors did not let the film run in many places. Thursday went upto 19 crores and the film has not even seen the light of day in 4 states namely Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Goa. On Friday film garnered monumental 32 crores which was maximum for both Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor though Deepika has seen such collections but in the films lead by someone like Shahrukh Khan.

First Saturday of the film banked 27 crores and these numbers are huge considering film is missing out on about 1000 theaters due to the ban and also some people are clearly scared to go in the cinemas because threats are real and radical people were throwing petrol bombs inside the cinema halls. Film managed to pick up the pace again and earned a gigantic pace on Sunday by banking 31 crores. By this time film has already become the biggest blockbuster in the history of Shahid Kapoor’s 15 years long career.

As the word of mouth on the film is extraordinary Monday was made up of 15 crores and Tuesday goes to grab 14 crores on the box office. Wednesday marginalized the collections by earning 12.50 crores and film has already earned 155.50 crores in India itself. Overseas it is breaking record by having the biggest Hindi film weekend in North America and Australia simultaneously shattering the records of films like Dhoom 3, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Tiger Zinda Hai. All 3 Ranveer-Bhansali films have earned more than 100 crores on the box office and this one might just turn out to be the biggest success of their collaboration which would be the tightest one on the face of those who did not let the film release.
