The official trailer of Madhur Bhandarkar’s promising short film Mumbai Mist is here

Madhur Bhandarkar’s short film Mumbai Mist has garnered quite a buzz around it and the audiences were treated to the film’s official trailer today. Film critic and trade tracker for bollywood, Taran Adarsh tweeted the film’s trailer, he wrote, ” Trailer of Madhur Bhandarkar’s short film #MumbaiMist… Being premiered in China today.” This is the National Award winning director’s first short film and he is representing India at the prestigious BRICS Film Festival being held in China, where the film was screened.

The film’s star cast includes Annu Kapoor and child artist Devrath Mudgal in lead roles with Parvin Dabas, Jonita Doda and Jitin Sippy playing supporting parts. As seen in the trailer the film is a bittersweet tale of two lonely souls in Mumbai who bond over their loneliness. Even though these two characters have nothing in common, neither their age nor their social strata, but they still befriend each other and share a heartwarming connection. Annu Kapoor plays an upper middle class old man where as the little boy plays a 11 year old orphan ragpicker.

Towards the end of the trailer, we witness an unfortunate episode where the little boy goes missing and Annu Kapoor’s character is shown helpless, looking for him. The trailer ends on an emotional note with a funeral pyre being lit. The film which is 18 minutes in duration, promises to make you smile and get you teary eyed all at once. ‘Awaara Hoon’ playing in the background blends perfectly with the mood of the film.

The film is an ode to the average Mumbaikar, who often finds himself lost in the hustle bustle of this crazy city. Mumbai Mist is part of the collaboration between five filmmakers from five countries coming together to make five short films each of which will be 18 minutes in duration. The films have been made on a common theme which is “Where has time gone?”.
