October was never really designed to be a blockbuster venture but opening day collections are lower than expected considering for a Varun Dhawan starrer. Word of mouth from the audience is beyond extraordinary and so is the film but as it turns out that not many showed up to watch it. October does not have an inch of mass appeal because of it’s novel like tonality which showcases the story in a slow burn manner. Screenplay of the film is very detailed but does not have too many plot points which might not be appreciated for a single screen audience who otherwise are very fond of Varun.
Varun is certainly one of the biggest star in the country right now but the collections of any film is also dependent on the nature of it. Same actor would command a more or less audience on the first day in accordance to the film. October opened to 5.04 crores but the business is expected to rise on the weekends as more people show up to watch this genius heartfelt piece of art. Varun actually chose to not cash up on the big bank his film ‘Judwaa 2’ made and decided to tell a story.
His decision of doing this film certainly paid off as he has gathered the credibility of a lifetime with a film that has classic written all over it. Varun is not only a star but one of the best actor as well and his films like ‘Badlapur’ second that suggestion. By the end of it ‘October’ might be able to recover the cost of production and become Varun’s tenth hit in a row. Varun has not delivered one single flop in his entire career so far and he should not care about that with an amazing film like October that touches hearts.
