After watching the trailer I was surprised to see Sonakshi Sinha in such a new role of being a journalist. But as was expected could not be fulfilled. Sonakshi Sinha film Noor received the cold response from the audience on its opening day. The film collected Rs 1.54 crore on day one, and the performance was below expectations. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Noor has a dull start… Fri ₹ 1.54 cr [1450 screens]. India biz… Needs a major jump over the weekend to leave a mark.” The film hit the box office on 21st April along with the movie Maatr.
The movie has been directed by Sunhil Sippy. The film is based on Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz’s novel Karachi, ‘You’re Killing Me’ and follows an Indian journalist-writer Noor’s misadventures and love life as she navigates her way through Mumbai. The cast of the film are as follows:
Sonakshi Sinha as Noor Roy Chaudhary
Kanan Gill as Saad Sehgal
Manish Chaudhary as Shekhar
Shibani Dandekar as Zara Patel
Purab Kohli as Ayan Banerjee
Sunny Leone as Herself (Cameo)
The music for the film has been composed by Amaal Mallik. There are seven songs in this soundtrack and it is Mallik’s second chance as a solo composer. Lyrics are being penned by Manoj Muntashir and Kumaar. Title song in this Movie is “Uff Yeh Noor” which has been written by Manoj Muntashir.
When asked about the movie to Sonakshi Sinha, the actor spoke about her character in Noor. “The character of Noor is the most relatable character I have ever done on screen in my entire career. See, I am the kind of actor who can only work when the camera is rolling. I cannot go into prep mode or practice method-acting. So I had to talk to the director, understand his vision for my character and once I get it, I portray it to the best of my ability. The way she behaves, reacts, struggles… It is all so real that everyone of us has gone through it at some point in time in our lives,” Sonakshi added. For this movie Sonakshi Sinha has walked miles. She has done many things to give justice to the role of her being journalist in the film. She has also interviewed Barkha Dutt, the Indian Television Journalist. But it seems that she is not this year’s queen.
