Newton trailer review: Rajkumar Rao seems phenomenal as an idealist officer

Newton is an upcoming Hindi film with a gut wrenching trailer. Newton is the story of a brutally honest government clerk Newton Kumar who is posted in the naxalite jungles of Chattisgarh to conduct free and fair elections. Newton Kumar (Rajkumar Rao) is showcased as an idealist government worker, who is caught up between the jungle rules of Army and naxals. He continuously points out his fellow workers to bring in a change with in the concrete jungles of Madhya Pradesh by the supreme power of democracy called elections. Rajkumar Rao is unstoppable and perhaps one of the best actors in Indian cinema ever. A performance can only be as good as the role and Rao knows it.

Excluding some of his work, films like Shahid, Citylights, Bareilly ki Barfi and now Newton shows that he has great caliber in him. This year has been great for him so far as he delivered the performance of a lifetime in Trapped directed wonderfully by Vikram aditya Motwane. Moving onto Bareilly ki Barfi which is still running successfully in cinema houses is an extraordinary performance by Rao, which blurred the lines of commercial and art house cinema.

Supporting cast of the film includes Pankaj Tripathy, Raghuvir Yadav and Sanjay Mishra. Directed by Amit V Masurkar, Newton has classic written all over it. The fact that a studio like Eros is supporting an indie film says that Rajumar Rao has finally arrived and how. He will also be seen in Alt Balaji’s webseries Bose. Newton will release on 22 September, 2017.
