It is a messy and druggy attempt that distill decades of horror trope the chaotic fever dream. The director Andrés Muschietti pulls off task by being slavishly committed to the source material. It movie has managed as much depth as its monster, the primal horror movie that opens all kind of thematic angels around the children’s that displays more interest in using them as a gateway to catapult from one jump scare to the next.
