Manoj Bajpayee starrer ‘In The Shadows’ to open Indian Film Festival Los Angeles

Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Shahana Goswami recently made a film together by the name of ‘In The Shadows’. It is a small independent film which initially premiered at Busan film festival and won a grand jury prize in Mumbai film festival. It is a psychological drama about a man who feels trapped in the walls of the city and in his own mind as well due to internal conflicts. A child actor by the name of Om Singh is introduced in the film who has a parallel role with Manoj Bajpayee.

Traveling the rounds of film festivals around the world it got selected in Cleveland film festival and will be played on opening night of Indian film festival in Los Angeles, America. Manoj has been known for doing indie films all his life as he is one of the very few actors who are able to juggle successfully between content driven and one dimensional mainstream cinema. He had a hard luck at the box office with his much anticipated ‘Aiyaary’ co-starring Siddharth Malhotra and directed by prolific Neeraj Pandey. Aiyaary did not work on the box office or critically which burdens the film with the label of a miss.

Science (not applicable at all times) of career graph of actors like Manoj is that they make a mainstream film which earns a substantial box office and due to that their face becomes more well known to the mass audience. Now, if a supporting actor is liked than they might be able to release an independent content driven films of themselves which otherwise might not have found a theatrical run otherwise. One of the many examples of such a career is Nawazuddin Siddique whose indies run because of blockbusters. Since Manoj is considered a gem of Indian cinema his film ‘In The Shadows’ might get a respectable theatrical release in time to come.
