Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial epic Padmaavat is a hit of gigantic magnitude despite of the fact that it has not released in four major states such as Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa. Violent Karni Sena protestors did not let the film run in these states despite of Supreme Court’s orders as no exhibitor or distributor would buy the film in order to not get the theater property damage as they were being bullied for a long time. Protestors have burnt cinema halls and thrown petrol bombs inside running shows.
High court of Madhya Pradesh has asked the government to make sure that the film opens in the the theaters even if state has to deploy some more security to protect the cinema halls and people going to the film from radical groups which are stopping at nothing to make sure film does not run successfully for no reason. Sate of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa have still taken absolutely no actions on the issue though it is clear that if a Chief Minster wants the film to be showcased nothing will stop it and Uttar Pradesh is a fine example of this.
Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra took the authorities into their own hands and said that no one will cross over the law in their states as Padmaavat will get a desired release protecting Freedom of speech and expression as constituted by the constitution of this country as a fundamental right. Government of Madhya Pradesh has not taken a clear action on it yet though film might see a release very soon there. Padmaavat has made on the budget of 200 crores and so far film is about to gross more than 200 crores only in India which is absolutely magnificent. Madhya Pradesh is a huge state with lots of cinema theaters which will further boost the collections of this film.
