Mumbai Mist is part of the collaboration between five filmmakers from five countries coming together to make five short films each of which will be 18 minutes in duration. The films have been made on a common theme which is “Where has time gone?”. The other prolific filmmakers who are part of this collaboration are Walter Salles of The Motorcycle Diaries fame from Brazil, Aleksey Fedorchenko from Russia, Jahmil X. T. Qubeka from South Africa, and Jia Zhangke from China.
Mumbai Mist revolves around the story of an upper middle class man (Annu Kapoor) who becomes friends with a 11-year-old ragpicker who is an orphan (Devrath Mudgil) and highlights the beautiful bond that they come to share. This emotional tale is sure to tug at your heart-strings and make you smile as well as cry. Madhur Bhandarkar who is a huge Raj Kapoor fan, has gone ahead and used the veteran’s song ‘Awaara Hoon’ in the background score of an important scene in the film. This is the director’s tribute to the original showman of Hindi films. This one is sure to watch out for.
