Lust Stories, movie anthology to premiere on Netflix, stars Vicky Kaushal, Radhika Apte, Manisha Koirala and others

Lust Stories, a movie anthology, is going to premiere on Netflix in June. The movie comprises of short movies from the directors of Bombay Talkies, which was another anthology, and includes work from, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibaker Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar. The short movies star, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Kiara Advani and Radhika Apte. As the title suggests, Lust Stories will take the themes of love and lust. The decision to make the movie available on Netflix is smart, since there is not much of an audience for it, as it short movies can be accessed on YouTube for free as well.

But now, people will be able to watch the movies on Netflix without having to look for it in theaters, and it will also make it possible for people to access it immediately. All directors who have made the movies in the anthology are very talented, with critical and commercial acclaim, which means that people are going to be intrigued by the stories. The cast also includes all acclaimed actors, and could generate publicity for the movie.

Anurag Kashyap said in the official statement for the movie, “The opportunities that a streaming service such as Netflix provides to creators are unparalleled, with the freedom to execute our vision, reach new audiences in 190 countries and tell a memorable story.” He continued speaking about his feelings, “As audiences move towards enjoying entertainment online, I’m delighted to play a part in welcoming this shift in India.”

 Karan Johar stated that, “A theme of lust….a new age and dynamic platform…the company of prolific filmmakers…the vision of Ashi Dua and Ronnie Screwvala made this experience immensely sexy and satisfying! (no pun intended)…Lust Stories breaks ground and even tears the envelope at times! This one is worth the price of a subscription!”

Zoya Akhtar also spoke about the movie being released on a streaming service, “Viewers today demand freedom in how they consume entertainment and since our stories have evolved to reflect modern sensibilities, so should the medium. It’s very exciting to make my Netflix debut with this film, and I can’t wait to see how a world audience receives it.”

 Dibakar Banerjee also put forth his feelings about being involved in the project, ”I feel incredibly lucky to be in this film, in this company, and the fact that this will be seen by people who want to see films with subjects and treatment like this. I already feel a lot smarter, cooler, and maybe more honest. Something traditional theatricals do not make you feel any more.”
