The trailer of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service, has debuted on the internet after a week of speculation. For those of you unaware, Kingsman: The Secret Service was a spy action comedy film, directed by Matthew Vaughn and based on the comic book ‘The Secret Service, created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. The first film was about the induction and training of a potential secret agent, Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin played by Taron Egerton, into a secret spy organisation called the Kingsman. Colin Firth played his mentor. He then joins a mission to tackle a global threat from an eco- terrorist.
The first film turned out to be one of the breakout hits of 2015. It combined humour and violence delightfully, making its sequel a highly anticipated film. Here is the official synopsis:
“Kingsman: The Secret Service introduced the world to Kingsman- an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In Kingsman : The Golden Circle, our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage , their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organisation in the US called the Statesmen, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organisations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that is becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy..”
The trailer has introduced the new cast members Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges and Pedro Pascal as the US counterparts. Julianne Moore plays the main villain and we also have Elton John apparently, joining the returning cast of Taron Egerton and Colin Firth (even though he died in the first movie, the trailer ends with the return of his character, Harry Hart).
