Karni Sena protests outside CBFC Mumbai office to ban Padmaavat

Shree Rajput Karni Sena members gathered outside CBFC office in Mumbai and started protesting regarding Censor Board’s decision to pass the film and letting it release. CBFC has cleared the film with an U/A Certificate after suggesting certain minor cuts that includes changing the name to Padmaavat and taking the historical context out of it. Film is purely a work of fiction and is based on the 16 century poetry of Malik Mohammad Jayasi by the name of Padmaavat. Film has a release date now on 25 January but Karni Sena simply wants to ban the film in it’s entirety.

Rajasthan and Hmachal Pradesh government have already banned the film from their respective states and Karni Sena wants every Indian state to ban the film. Karni Sena would not even watch the film prior to it’s release in order to rule out the issues because they think the whole depiction of their culture is wrong. Although director Sanjay Bhansali confirmed in a video that there is no scene between the character of Allaudin Khilji and Queen Padmini in the film months back. Karni Sena is not even interested in story of the film they just want it to never release.

The act of Karni Sena were quite radical as they vandalized the theaters and one man was found dead hanging from the Chittorgarh fort with a note on his body which meant that film should not be released. Senior members of Karni Sena put 5 crore bounties on the respective heads of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone. Karni Sena is urging the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to put a ban on the film altogether to make sure that it never releases. This period epic is made on the budget of 200 crores which makes it one of the biggest film of all time in the history of Indian cinema and no one can forget that kind of investment.
