Karan Malhotra signs a three film deal with YRF to begin work with Ranbir Kapoor

Director of Agneepath and Brothers, Karan Malhotra has now signed a three film deal with Yash Raj films. Post Brothers, he has been wanting to do Shuddhi, which is a mega budget production to be produced by Dharma Porductions but that project did not close through as almost all the A-list Hindi film stars passed the role for some or the other reason. Karan Malhotra was Karan Johar’s first assistant director in My Name Is Khan and has only worked under Dharma Productions till now though his next will be with Yash Raj Films.

Apparently he has roped Ranbir Kapoor to ply the male protagonist in his first film and Ranbir has signed the deal from his end. Ranbir has currently completed the shoot of Sanjay Dutt biopic being directed by Rajkumar Hirani and will further move to his mega budget film Brahmastra. Brahmastra will be directed by his long time collaborate Ayan Mukherjee who has directed him in films like Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Brahmastra has been an anticipated project for a long time and in 2017 Johar announced that it is a 3 part film.

Brahmastra also stars Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles. Shooting of the film has not started yet though first part will release somewhere in 2019. Ranbir has just delivered a mega flop by the name of Jagga Jasoos and the release date of his Dutt biopic is constantly being pushed around for unknown reasons, speculations are that Rajkumar Hirani is not happy with the way film has turned out and hence he is working on a model that could save it. Dutt biopic will release on June 29 though details of Karan Malhotra films are kept under the wraps  by the production house so far as the official confirmation on the same is awaited.
