Kaala box office collection: Rajinikanth starrer might stay lower than Kabali

Kaala box office collection: Rajinikanth starrer might stay lower than Kabali

Rajinikanth starrer ‘Kaala’ might fair a little low considering the expectations from the box office. Pa Ranjith directorial has not opened very well on the box office in comparison to their last film ‘Kabali’. Kaala is expected to have a worldwide opening of around 50 crores though Kabali opened to massive 87.5 crores. Charm of Kabali was that Rajini came up on the big screen after a long time and the construction of film would have appealed highly to the foreign audience. Kaala is very routed in it’s scope as it shows the story of slum Dharavi which is in Mumbai.

Kaala is facing some trouble to get a release in Karnataka due to political reason, which could have been avoided. Kaala is expected to gross 17 crores in Tamil Nadu, 7 crores in Andhra Pradesh and about 3 crores from Kerala. Film is released in Hindi as well hence it is bound to do somewhere 6 crores from the rest of the country. If Kaala does 17 crores from the world market than the first day collection would be able to kiss 50 crores on the cash register. Hype around Kaala is not that big for a Rajini film though word of mouth is quite extraordinary.

People are calling it the return of superstar in his raw form. He has been doing some massive budget blockbusters along the way since his collaboration with Shankar but Kaala utilizes his larger than life image in a humble setting. Kaala will outgross most of the Tamil films this year but Rajini has to really compete with himself and he might loose. Word of mouth around Kabali was not that great but still film managed to do around 450 crores of lifetime worldwide business hence Kaala might also touch the 300 crore mark. Kabali was made on the budget of a 100 crores while Kaala is much less than that.
