Kaala box office collection: Rajinikanth is seeing his first deep low in years

Porducer Dhanush has had his share of profits from Kaala even before the film released as the pre-release earnings is somewhere around 200 crores. Dhanush was able to sell the satellite and music rights on time for whooping sum of money but Kaala had something of a disappointed opening considering the globe. This could also be said as the least Rajni promoted film as well because they literally used a plane to promote Kabali by covering it entirely with a poster of Rajni’s face. Music launch of 2.0 was conducted in Dubai as they also flew a big hydrogen balloon in air with 2.0’s official title poster.

Dhanush decided to not go all out in the promotions but kept it subtle so that the film could work on it’s merit but that has affected the opening. Kaala is the fourth Rajni film to have grosses $1 million mark in USA and he is the only Tamil actor to achieve this milestone. Lingaa, Endhiran and Kabali are three other films to have done this wonder and earned a lot more than just one million dollars. Financially the film is in a safe zone and critically in an even better with it’s euphoric climax.

Kaala has collected 3.25 crores in Chennai city alone with in 2 days which is basically phenomenal. Kaala has registered the lowest Rajni opening ever in recent times but extraordinary word of mouth around it will take it to new heights in the filmography of this great superstar. Kabali set the cash registers running but it did not get the kind of love and respect Kaala is achieving from all forms of audiences. Rajni is truly a pan Indian star and one of the very few actors who can make the world wait for his film in Chennai or Kashmir.
