Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle box office collection

Dwayne Johnson’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle  shines it’s way through the box office worldwide and the legacy of what Robin Williams created stayed intact. Jumanji has grossed 28.07 crores in India (21.84 crores nett) as it has managed to be on the top spot of most of the Asian market. Jumanji opened to 5.26 crore on Friday as it leaped to 6.69 crore on Saturday. Film went on to do 8.32 crore on Sunday and got eyeballs worth of 6 crore on Monday, which is pretty decent for a mediocre Hollywood film. Initial release of the film was on 20 December under PG-13 rating distributed by Sony/Columbia.

Production budget of the film is 90 Million dollars, which is pretty modest considering film has Dwayne Johnson and a huge legacy behind. Jumanji opened to 36 million dollars and it is not the best opening but the film picked up eventually and grossed 185 million dollars in America. Unlike most other big Hollywood adventures film did not gross out it’s collection of domestic market by the foreign market as it did 153 millions. Worldwide gross of the film is 338 million dollars right now. Collections could be put in an alright zone as Dwayne is not the global superstar that he was for 4-5 years in his career.

Another thing is that Robin Williams starer Jumanji was made a long time back and the audience of any film can’t stay loyal for decades. An example that could be seen in Blade Runner 2049, Warner Bros and Ridley Scott clearly over estimated the audience they thought is interested in the sequel of a film which was literally made 32 years ago. Blade Runner 2049, despite of getting brilliant reviews ended up being a catastrophic failure on the box office. Jumanji’s sequel will see the light of the day as film has proven to be a successful venture for the studio.
