Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, or Banita Sandhu, who is going to have the best debut in Bollywood?

Bollywood has always been mired in Nepotism, and only recently has the subject been under discussion, as the star kids have taken over the industry and the new comers have made made their presence known with better movies and more acclaim. This year, three of the most talked about debuts are surely going to be from Janhvi Kapoor in Dhadak, Sara Ali Khan in Kedarnath and/or Gully Boy (whichever movie is released first) and Banita Sandhu in October. Janhvi and Sara are both star kids; Janhvi is the daughter of the late acting legend Sri Devi and producer Boney Kapoor while Sara is the daughter of now divorced couple Saif Ali Khan and Amrtia Singh. Banita is a new comer with no family connections with the Indian film Industry, as she is a model, who has only appeared in one advertisement.

Janhvi recently suffered from a devastating tragedy, something which a person is unable to come term with; the shocking death of her mother, Sridevi. She returned to shoot the movie, which is being directed by Shashank Khaitan and will also feature another star kid debutante, Ishaan Khattar. Sara, whose Kedarnath went into some problems, will start shooting soon, has already gotten another opportunity, to star with Ranveer Singh in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba. People praised her shots in the October trailer, but Banita will have considerable difficulty in breaking out, even if she gets great reviews.

Everything will depend on the movies, of course. If they’re any good, and the three actress’ have fine directors who are able to get good performances from their actors. Banita has quite an edge over the other two, as Shoojit Sircar is an immensely talented and acclaimed director whose movies always have exceptional performances.

Karan Johar has already been accused of supporting nepotism, as his production company is producing Dhadak and Simmba. For someone who said he supports talent, Kjo has done everything in his power to make space for star kids in his movies.

Not all actors are impressive in their first movies, like Alia Bhatt, who got average reviews for Student of the year, but then shocked everyone with her devastating performance in Highway, but star kids always have more opportunities than new comers, as evidenced in Sara’s case.

But for now, based on the filmography of Shoojit Sircar, it seems like Banita could snatch the debut of the year tag, but as we have seen before, even some star kids can surprise us with great acting and prove that they’re more than their surnames.
