Dharma Productions took to their social media account and didn’t resist posting a picture of Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor shooting at the Victoria Memorial Kolkata for their upcoming film ‘Dhadak’. Ishaan and Janhvi have been shooting this film for quite sometime now but still have some portions left perhaps because a hault in the production. Due to the sudden demise of Janhvi’s mother Sridevi, shooting of the film was postponed by producer Karan Johar so that family can get proper time for grieving over their unbearable loss.
Film is being shot in Kolkata which might be the Hyderabad segment from the original Marathi ‘Sairat’. Sairat is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet hence the young couple have to run away in the fear of their families to stay together far away from their native place. Not realizing much they run off to South India and find a place to stay in Hyderabad and Kolkata might be substituting that in the Hindi adaptation. Sairat is the biggest blockbuster in the history of Marathi films and was an instant cult upon the release which is why Johar urgently bought the rights and prepared the project.
Shashank Khaitan who is known for directing Badrinath Ki Dulhania is handling the captain’s desk in this one as well and would jump straight into his next epic with Varun Dhawan to be released in 2020. Ishaan and Janhvi are totally DE-glamourized in this film because they are playing realistic characters from the heartlands of India. Ishaan is already enough grounded as a character in his upcoming film ‘Beyond The Clouds’ which is directed by Iranan director Majid Majidi and will come out on 20 April. Janhvi on the other hand will be seen for the first time on celluloid in ‘Dhadak’ which will release in July.
