Music composer and lead singer Adhi of Hiphop Tamizha is all set to make his directorial and acting debut with the upcoming tamil film Meesaya Murukku, which is all set to hit cinema screens on June 9. The film has been produced by Sundar.C under the banner of Avni Movies and the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights have been bagged by Rockfort Entertainments.

The film which has been in the works since 2013 was only completed late last year. Meesaya Murukku is essentially a romantic musical and the film ventures into the hardships faced by the protagonist who tries to break into the Tamil Independent music scene, fighting the pressure of a conventional Tamil society. The film is an autobiography of sorts and talks about Hiphop Tamizha’s arduous journey to become the flag bearers of Tamil Hiphop in the country.
The film’s star cast includes newcomer Aathmika as the female lead along with Tamil films’ veteran comedian Vivekh and Vijayalakshmi. Besides being the lead actor and director, Adhi from Hiphop Tamizha has written the story, screenplay, dialogues for the film in addition to being the music composer, lyricist and singer for the songs of the movie.
The music of the film has been garnering appreciation from all quarters and is already a rage among the youth. The single tracks released so far along with the film’s title track have managed to create quite a buzz around the film before its release. The title track featuring Kharesma that was released yesterday talks about the struggles an independent musician faces and has managed to strike a chord with the audience, who were left feeling inspired.
