Hindi Medium Box Office Collection : Movie grosses over 22 crores in 6 days

Last friday i.e the 19th of May saw the release of two hindi films, Half Girlfriend which is the adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel and the small budget film Hindi Medium. While Half Girlfriend received major flak, Hindi Medium was well appreciated by majority of film critics. Lets us now take a look at what the film’s box office earnings have been like since its release.

Movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the film’s box office update. He wrote, “#HindiMedium is SUPER-STRONG… Fri 2.81 cr, Sat 4.25 cr, Sun 5.50 cr, Mon 3.15 cr, Tue 3.30 cr, Wed 3.10 cr. Total: ₹ 22.11 cr. India biz.”

While the film started on an average note on its opening day with a collection of merely 2.81 crore. The strong word of mouth and positive reviews ensured the film picked up in the forthcoming days with Sunday being as high as 5.50 crore.

And as they say, the first monday decides the fate of the film, Hindi Medium came out stronger than its first friday. The film managed to collect 3.15 crores on Monday, a working day and this figure is higher than its opening day collection too which is a rare occurrence at the box office. The 6 day total of the film now stands at 22.11 crore nett. And as Taran Adarsh stated, Hindi Medium has managed to stay “super- strong” and consistent with its weekday collections.

Hindi Medium has been made on a economical budget of 22 crores, out of which it has already recovered as much as 15 crores from sale of its digital, satellite and music rights. So the film has already gone into earning a surplus at the ticket windows.

Hindi Medium is a satirical comedy, which gives us a glimpse into the education system within the country and the class divide between the english and non english speakers. The film stars Irrfan Khan and Pakistani actress Saba Qamar in lead roles and has been directed by Saket Chaudhary.
