Haryana state bans Padmaavat, fourth state as of yet

Haryana is now officially the fourth state to ban Sanjay Bhansali directorial epic Padmaavat. First state to ban the film was Rajasthan, which is actually the core reason behind every other state banning the film. Shree Rajput Karni Sena which primarily operates from Rajasthan has protested radically against the film in order to achieve complete ban on the film. Padmaavat is made on a humongous budget of 200 crores, which makes it one of the most expensive film of all time and it could use as many screens in India and audience as possible just to recover the budget.

All the states that have banned the film are major ones and ban will affect the box office of the film, which is the whole point of releasing the film otherwise they could have just given it to a big streaming service and not face potential death threats. Amazon Prime is the streaming partner of Padmaavat but a theatrical experience is due when it is a mammoth Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Padmaavat is infact the first Hindi film to ever release in IMAX 3D format and it will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu as well in both 2d and 3d formats hence the distribution ring is trying their level best.

Exhibitors of different states are literally scared of putting the film in their cinema houses as karni sena has threatened to burn down the theaters. Building a multiplex is an expensive investment and no film individually is worth that kind of money. Moreover it’s not just cinema, it’s the multi million dollar malls that house the theaters and safety of people inside of it who may not be even watching films. Even if the states lift the ban, theater owners are demanding extra security in order to make sure that their property is not vandalized upon the film screening. Padmaavat is going to release on 25 January 2018.
