Half Girlfriend box office collection: The film earns a total of 32 crores over its opening weekend

Half girlfriend

Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer romantic drama Half Girlfriend has managed to rake in 32.04 crore at the box office over the opening weekend. The film had a decent to good start on its opening day i.e. 19th May on Friday with an earning of 10.27 crore at the ticket window. The film did not experience much growth on its Day 2 Saturday, with its earnings standing at 10.63 crore. Day 3 Sunday saw a marginal growth with the film managing to earn 11.14 crore adding up to a total of 32.04 crore in three days.

The film opened to unsatisfactory (to put it mildly) reviews on Friday, but going by the weekend collection, it looks like a segment of the audiences out there are up for the film. But the final verdict can only be out once the film continues to hold up good on the weekdays as well, otherwise it is going to be a downhill journey from Monday onward.

Even though the figures might not seem great at first, but going by the budget the film has been made on (around 50 crores) and the sale of the satellite and music rights, Half Girlfriend will definitely be able to break even. And this is quite an achievement for a film that has opened to disastrous reviews, to say the least.

Half Girlfriend is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s book of the same name and has been directed by Mohit Suri of Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain fame. This is also Arjun Kapoor and Chetan Bhagat’s second collaboration after Two States. The film follows the story of Madhav hailing from Bihar (Arjun Kapoor) who falls for a beautiful, high society girl (Shraddha Kapoor) ,but she only agrees to be his “half girlfriend” instead of committing to a relationship. In time, he goes on a journey of self discovery to truly win her heart.
