Ganesh Chaturthi 2017 Songs and Aartis : Bollywood celebrates Ganpati Bappa birthday

Hindi films are essentially based and shot in the Mumbai city. Mumbai is also a key hub for Ganesh chaturthi festival because of media’s attention on high profile celebrities. Hindi films have been obsessed with Ganesh celebrations and capturing the true spirit of the auspicious day on celluloid. Songs and aartis are usually not about ganesh chaturthi but ganesh visarjan. Here are 5 gems of songs that will give you the goosebumps of Ganesha enormity.

5 Bollywood Hindi songs and Aartis for celebrating Ganpati birthday

Mourya Re (Don, 2006) – Mourya Re is a ganesh visarjan song from Shahrukh Khan’s 2006 release Don. In Amitabh Bachchan’s Don there was no such song but Farhan Akhtar made it Vijay’s entry in the film. Sung by Shankar Mahadevan the song has extraordinary energy even after 11 years. Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics and every Mumbaikar still dances to this.

Deva Shree Ganesha (Agneepath, 2013) People have been doing a lot of Bachchan remakes with Bappa songs. Deva Shree Ganesha is perhaps the most powerful Ganesh songs in terms of visuals and grandeur. Karan Malhotra’s Vijay Dinanath Chauhan starts taking revenge of his father in this scene by stabbing a villain during visarjan. Use of Percussions by Ajay Atul is very powerful especially in the voice of Ajay Gogawale. The nature of the song is a little intense but spirit is of festivity.

Gajanana (Bajirao Mastani) – Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic about a marathi warrior (Peshwa bajirao Ballad) would have been incomplete without this song. In all it’s scope and pitch, Sukhwinder sings it with eternity and Shreyas Puranik’s music gives the chills of a war. For a huge crowd this song can be a boost.

Hey Ganaraya (ABCD 2) Starring Varun Dhawan ABCD 2 got some really brilliant music from Sachin-Jigar. Hey Ganaraya as a song is the most unattached from any other bappa song. This song has classical, contemporary and rap western music in it. More than celebration, it suits the need of a performance. Divya Kumar showed incredible range as a singer and Remo De Souza’s choreography takes it a mile above any other dance number.

Shree Siddhivinayak Mantra and Aarti (Times Music) This song was done as a music video in collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan and Times Music. The song is aarti called ‘Jaidev, jaidev’, which is chanted in every household with Ganesh in it during the chaturthi. One of the most serene, calm yet powerful prayer in the voice of Amitabh Bachchan is a blessing in itself.
