Emergency services at GB Pant, Lok Nayak and Maulana Azad (Hospitals) closed due to strike

All kinds of emergency services at three major hospitals of Delhi are closed today because doctors are on strike in GB Pant, Lok Nayak and Maulana Azad hospital. Doctors have gone on a strike till the justice is done to their fellow medical practitioner as family members of a patient badly beat up two resident doctors of Lok Nayak hospital because they were not satisfied with their efforts. Rest of the doctors took the matter seriously as it could happen to anyone at any point of time if the matter is not dealt with sensitivity.

Doctors decided to sit on a strike for no particular point of time which is why emergency services are on a closed down. Incident happened when a patient came to the hospital with abdamon pain and doctors recommended to shift the patient into medicine unit upon which the attendees started arguing with the doctors. In no time around 1-12 people gathered and beat up two doctors of surgical unit badly. Doctors sat on the strike asking for an institutional FIR lodged against the culprits and also demanding to heighten up the security of hospital.

Till the time their demands are met doctors won’t call off the strike. Lok Nayak is a busy hospital which sees around 5000 patients a day and more than 100 surgeries. DR JC Passey, medical director of Lok Nayak has issued a notice that arrangements should be made to run the OPD unit properly while surgery will be closed till the time hospital chiefs don’t take necessary actions against the attendees with patients who badly assaulted the doctors on duty. DR Vivek Chouksey, president, Federation of Resident Doctor’s Association of India has said that if the demands are not met in 48 hours than the health care services will be put to a shut down in the entire state.
