Diljit Dosanjh’s Soorma avoids clash with Dutt biopic

Diljit Dosanjh starrer Soorma, which is based on the life of a renowned hockey player Sandeep Singh was suppose to release on June 29, 2018 but has now decided not to. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role, Dutt biopic was suppose to release on March 30  but due to excessive post production film got shifted to June 29. A medium budget film with a moderate star like Diljit Dosanjh would not want clash with a massive film like Sanjay Dutt biopic, which is one of the most awaited film of the year for a long time.

Dutt is releasing two weeks after EID as during hat period Salman Khan starrer Race 3 will take the box office by storm. Fanney Khan starring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai and Rajkumar Rao will also release on the same period as Race 3. Due to the shift in Padmaavat’s release, the entire Hindi film domino broke down. Siddharth Malhotra starrer Aiyaary was suppose to hit the theaters on 26 January but got postponed to 9 February in order to avoid the clash with Padmaavat and Padman. Padman will suffer huge losses as this sword called Padmaavat finally landed on Akshay Kumar’s film and now both the films will release on 25 January.

This havoc has films shifting release dates every day, Anushka Sharma starrer horror film Pari was suppose to release with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety on 9 February but due to the arrival Aiyyary, Pari shifted it’s date to 2 March. John Abraham starrer Parmanu : The Story of Pokhran is searching for a release date for 2 months now as it was suppose to release on 8 December. Since the makers of Padmavat decided their release date on 1 December, Fukrey Returns got shifted to 15 December but Parmaanu did not to avoid the clash with Star Wars: The Last Jedi as well. Padmaavat got shifted and Fukrey Returns came back on 8 December but Parmaanu’s release date is yet to be announced.
