Dhadak movie trailer: Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter are promising in the first look

The first trailer for Dhadak, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter has been released. The movie is directed by Shashank Khaitan, and is the Hindi language remake of the Marathi movie, Sairat, which was a commercial and critical success. It is going to be released on July 20 2018. This is going to be the movie debut of Janhvi, who is the daughter of the late acting legend, Sridevi. Ishaan Khatter recently received acclaimed for his performance in Majid Majidi’s drama, Beyond the clouds. Dhadak has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year, ever since it was announced last year, even as people have been skeptical about it, because the original one was very popular among the audiences. It also seemed the people weren’t too excited about the idea of two starkids starring in the remake of a movie that was popular for its storytelling, and the acting of two unknown actors.

Still, it seems that the makers have been careful as to not copy Sairat, and the first trailer is already a more Bollywood-ized version of the original. It is not a bad thing, because it still looks compelling. Janhvi, in particular, looks very compelling, and it looks like she has inherited her mother’s talent, and given the right nurturing could go on to become successful. Shashank Kaitan previously directed Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Humpty Sharma Ki Dhulhania, both of which were widely successful and garnered acclaim.

Ishaan looks more natural and at ease with his character, while Janhvi has been made to look more understated but seems to come alive in the more emotional scenes. The movie looks very different, and glossier than the gritty and emotionally wrenching Sairat. However, it seems to be going on a very different direction, in terms of storytelling and the places that the characters are going to travel in their search for freedom for love.
