Daddy box office collection: The Arjun Rampal starrer takes a slow start in its opening weekend.

Daddy, the gangster drama starring Arjun Rampal in the titular role has not been welcomed by the audience and has started off on a slow start at the box office. The film’s first weekend box office collection stands at a dismal 4.60 crore as per a leading bollywood trade website and the occupancy was in the 20% category on an average on the opening day. The film clashed with the Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Shreyas Talpade starrer Poster Boys, which is off to a decent start, but more was expected from it. Daddy has been directed and co-written by Ashim Ahluwalia with Arjun Rampal helming the producer’s chair as well as working on the project as a co-writer.

Apart from the supermodel turned actor, the film also stars Aishwarya Rajesh, who has predominantly worked in tamil films with a few appearances in Malayalam and Hindi movies too. This autobiographical story is based on the life of Arun Gawli, who is presently serving a jail term. Daddy is particularly disappointing for the fact that when the trailer of the film was out, the movie was among the most anticipated films of the year for the sheer brilliance of the content as well as the resemblance between Arun Gawli and Arjun Rampal’s look in the film. But on 8th September the film opened to mixed reviews with the critics disappointed with the plot and screenplay but showering praises on the lead actor/writer/producer Arjun Rampal for his power packed performance.

Trade analyst Girish Johar took to his twitter to tweet about the estimate box office collection of Daddy. According to him, the film collected an approximate of 1.25 crore on its opening friday and 1.60 crore on saturday showing a marginal but negligible growth. With the total weekend collection in the bracket of 4.60-4.75 crores, according to his estimates.

With no noticeable positive word of mouth publicity for Daddy, looks like the box office collection for the film will remain low.
