‘Daasdev’ extended look is shared by Rahut Bhat on micro blogging website, which would serve as one of the last piece of footage before the film comes out to get the maximum attention from the viewers. Rahut is playing the titular role which is the modern film adaptation of classic Bengali literature but put in contemporary times by Sudhir Mishra. Devdas has been adapted incredible number of times on screen but a socio-political arrangement to that is something new with in the barometers of adaptations. Richa Chadha is playing the role of his lover, who gets indifferent to him in the literature but seems to be a rather negative influence in this one.
Aditi Rao Hydari is playing the role of a prostitute in the film who is very much in love with Daas but this is a story of betrayal hence one might know about who would turn their backs against anybody. Vineet Kumar, who was last seen in ‘Mukkabaaz’ is playing the role of his friend in accordance to the original text but might just be his hidden foe in this one because he does not seem to be giving him a right advice.
Saurabh Shukla is playing Daas’s father who just want him to continue the political legacy but perhaps Daas does not want that which would create some sort of fiction between the two. Saurabh can be called as the main antagonist of the film but every character seems to be having their own fair share of dark shade in them going by the trailer. Even Daas is not a purely soulful saint like being and is the root cause of all the problems that need to be gotten over with. Daasdev is releasing on 20 April and will be battling it out on the box office with ‘Omerta’.
