Chaamp, a Bengali movie based on the sports has been directed by Raj Chakraborty. The movie has been produced by Dev who is playing a pivotal role in the movie. The movie stars Chiranjeet Chakraborty, Priyanka Sarkar, Kaushik Ganguly. The most interesting part of the movie is Rukhmini Maitra’s role as a debutant, who is playing an important part.

The movie poster features the main lead of the movie Dev who is sitting with his face covered with a hood. The movie seems very inspiring as it is a sports movie.

The cast of the movie includes:

  • Dev as Shibaji
  • Rukmini Maitra as Jaya
  • Chiranjeet Chakraborty as Coach
  • Priyanka Sarkar
  • Kaushik Ganguly
  • Arindam Sil

Chaamp revolves around the story of the trials and tribulations that a young Indian boxer, Shibaji had to face to become the World Boxing Champion. He grew up in a humble family and he also had the sheer determination and passion to overcome all odds to become the World Champion. But a sudden incident changed his life with a career ending injury.

Looking at the plot of the movie we could make an idea that the movie has some similarity to Aamir Khan’s Dangal where the father wanted to fulfill his dreams through his daughters.

In the month of September, it was reported that the main lead of the movie Dev is going to launch Rukmini Maitra through a new production house of his. The movie is based on boxing with both Dev and Rukmini playing the character of a boxer.

If we throw some light on the songs of the movie, then there are six songs in the movie namely: Tu Hi Hai Chaamp that is the title track, Jaya Tomari, Dekho Dekho Chaamp, Tumio Chaamp, Maula Re and Shibaji Shibaji. All these songs have been composed by Jeet Gannguli, Raftaar and Anupam Roy. the lyrics of the songs have been written by Anindya Chattopadhyay, Raftaar, Anupam Roy, Srijato & Raja Chanda.

The movie Chaamp is set to release on 23rd June, 2017.
