Bucket List movie review: Madhuri Dixit’s performance is extraordinary in this bitter sweet symphony

Madhuri Dixit starrer ‘Bucket List’ has hit the theaters and would perhaps be registered as one of the best Madhuri Dixit performance of all time. This is her first Marathi film in a career which is nearly 3 decades old in Hindi cinema. Madhuri could always speak Marathi hence the language does not fall flat in the translation of emotions. She could emote as well in Marathi as she did in Hindi. Film has a story with certain amount of gravitas in it and novelty factor of how unique of a tale this is, speaks volumes about the effort of writing.

Story is about a woman who has been donated heart by a dying doner and now she takes it upon herself to fulfill the bucket list of that person. Madhuri plays a very simple house wife who has spent nearly all her life cooking food and taking care of home as she has not ever really been u. This bucket list she decides to fulfill is quite adventurous as it does involve riding a bike after wearing some serious leather jacket. It is a journey of self discovery that most women in India never get to take as they tend to live their life in a rather minimalist way.

Madhuri is certainly one of the best actress Indian cinema has ever seen and she proves that by this performance of her. She is beyond brilliant in her portrayal of a life that she has somewhat seen as she comes from a very humble background. Subtlety in her performance is something one needs to appreciate a lot because the character arc is quite dramatic in many stages. At the emotional core of it is a heart wrenching story of finding oneself due to the most unsettling reason and unknown places in life. Overall one may visit cinemas to watch this one.
