Bollywood movie clubs of 100 crore and more

The box office collection of a movie was limited to the trade analyst talk between producers, distributors and exhibitors till a few years ago but now the discussion is open for everybody to draw their conclusions and scrutinize the film based on it’s earning and not on content. Speculations are that it was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas which earned 100 crores for the first time on Indian box office in 2002 but officially that record belongs to Aamir Khan’s Ghajini made way back in 2008. Ghajini was the remake of a Tamil film of same name both of them directed by A.R. Murugadoss. Tamil Ghajini was a blockbuster with Suriya in lead and the Hindi version went onto become the biggest hit of all time in Indian cinema.

Ghajini opened the doors to a whole new amount in film business because of which budgets also went up and industry could produce mammoth films like Hollywood. In 2009 Aamir broke his own record and first a film did the business of 200 crores, it was clled 3 Idiots. 3 Idiots, directed by prolific Rajkumar Hirani became the biggest blockbuster of all time. Film was made somewhere on the budget of 35 crores and it’s return of investment was unparallel at that time. Later films like Dabangg entered 200 crores and hence the whole industry got bigger.

Again this record was broken by Aamir in 2014 when he did a film with Rajkumar Hirani called PK. Again produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, PK went on to do more than 300 crores of nett collection, which was a never seen before number in the history of Indian cinema. It seems to be Aamir doing all the work in Bollywood though Salman’s Sultan and Bajrangi Bhaijaan entered the club later by doing 300 crores Nett business in India. Baahubali:The Conclusion is the film that did 500 crores business in only Hindi language in India, a number which is still and for a long time will be untouched by any film whatsoever.
