Bareilly ki Barfi (BKB) released on 18 August starring Ayushman Khurana, Rajkumar Rao and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles. Made on the budget of around 10 crores, Bareilly ki Barfi has opened a little low than expected 5-6 crore and first day ended up being 2.42 crores. This film had to compete with Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, which is on its way to become the biggest hit of Akshay Kumar’s 2 decade long career and Annabelle creation which is cashing box office globally. Only market which Bareilly ki Barfi had to rely upon is North of India. South Indian box office has VIP 2 doing very well there while distributors and exhibitors are preparing for Vivegam.
BKB has some competent one against itself but not so much that film can’t receive its due. Word of mouth has been very kind for BKB and collections are bound to rise on Saturday and Sunday. This is the only week that BKB has to recover it’s costs and earn some profit if it may because on 24th Thala Ajith is coming up with widest release ever in Tamil Nadu and this wave will hit the North as well.
Annabelle Creation is heavy in India and distributors should have taken more screens as the crowd gathering is tremendous and the film can sustain it for 4-5 days. A Gentleman is a big enough release on 25 August to distort the number of screens from BKB and open at a better box office collection. BKB’s weekend is going to be around 10-11 crores with around 4 more crores till the upcoming Friday.
