Amitabh Bachchan announces KBC9 comeback – Registration Open from 17th

Earlier today Amitabh Bachchan announched on his personal Twitter handle for what fans had been waiting now for years – comeback of the iconic Kaun Banega Crorepati on idiot box after a three year wait. The show has finally been announced today and the registration for the show opens from 17th June. The show will be airing on Sony Channel. It is to be noted that it was Star TV which basically aired the show in its inception days for the first two seasons when it was commissioned by the programming team of Samir Nair and the quiz show has since come a far long way.

KBC is primarily a quiz show hosted by iconic Bachchan in his incredibly impressive style which is laced with grace and knowledge, and is yet humorous and personal. Fans of the actor have been following the show for years now making it the most successful gameshow on Indian primetime ever. So much so that the show made its reference in Oscar winning 2008 blockbuster Slumdog Millionaire as well where the character of the host was played by Anil Kapoor. The show is remembered and has appeared in many pop culture references in India given its interesting and unique format which was a rip off of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” , but was a big surprise for the Indian audiences entering the millennium and the era of satellite TV. The show and its many anecdotes like Lifelines and “Lock Kiya Jaaye” have stuck with the Indian consumer base for years now making it to show’s ninth season and seventeenth year.

The show shall be back for its ninth season on Sony and Mr. Bachchan shared a series of tweets expressing his excitement and enthusiasm for the upcoming programme.

So, this June nostalgia is back. We would suggest you to forget about Netflix and Chill for some time now as the whole family should look forward to play KBC again with Mr. Bachchan now.
