Raid was never designed to be as a potential blockbuster like ‘Golmaal Again’ because it is realistic and subtle in nature but it still has Devgn highlighting the film with his face and some good rip-off music. Early trends were saying that Raid will open to around 11 crores as it is a decent margin for an Ajay Devgn starrer despite of the content but now one can estimate that it will open to around 12 crores and become one of his biggest all time grosser of all time.
Film picked up alright in the morning at almost all the centers but increased a whole lot by the end of the day and it’s because of the good word of mouth surrounding it. Collections won’t be as shielded on Saturday and the weekend is bound to increase because audience of all strata are appreciating it. Ajay is one of the very few actors in the industry who is liked immensely by the masses who whistle and clap when they see his face but also the niche audience who wait patiently to unfold the story. Raid almost belongs to both the genre which is because of a really sharp screenplay that serves all the needs.
Raid is realistic but with a few punch dialogues here and there delivered in character by Devgn who never once went Singham on the bad guys and instead faced the situation like any courageous common man would. Ajay’s character is brutally honest in the film and would not bow down to even the prime minister of the country as far as duty call is concerned. Film is based on an extraordinary true story which happened in the 80’s though cinematic liberties are taken to emphasize on certain points. It as one of the longest conducted Raid in the history and film is not far from that reception.
