T-Series has taken it upon themselves to take masterpieces sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and reboot them in the voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and ‘modernize’ the song with latest beats. They did it with ‘Mere Rashq-e-kamar’ in Baadshaho and the music became a superhit and more so than the film itself because apparently no one wants to listen the sufi songs in their true nature everybody wants them shorter and straight on point with many guitars basically destroying the very culture of this country.
This time makers of Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Raid’ decided to manipulate Nusrat Sahab’s classic ‘Sanu Ik Pal’ in the voice of Rahat basically sucking up the raw beauty out of the song and particularly all the sufiness by decorating it with their fairness cream of trend which is meant to kill the music in music. Raid utilizes this highly intense song to showcase the regular routine of Devgn’s life and his basic romance with Ileana like looking back when leaving the home. The song primarily consist of a lifetime of pain in it but makers did not bother to pay this attention.
All makers wanted is to utilize this song somehow and chose some visuals from the film ‘Raid’ to put it out in the market as it just does not matter if the video is even being synchronized with it at all. Most Nusrat songs are in Lahori Punjabi and Urdu but the Ghalib’s sitting in T Series have the audacity to not just re-write the lyrics but also make them into simple Hindi words of no gravitas by just keeping the Huq line so that they can later sell it with the reputation of a classic. To make these songs “simple” is an artistic crime because the original artists did not make it to earn some views on YouTube.
