VTU or Visvesvaraya Technological University which was on the headlines for many days for the reason of delay in the university results leading to a hassle and harassment for the students, are again a subject of talk as the university has now brought relief for the university students of engineering by announcing that it has decided to modify their critical year or year back policy and concepts for the academic year 2017-18.

This move was supposed to be a relief for the students but on the contrary, it led to a protest from various student organisations as they demanded the rule to be scrapped as it was university’s fault that it announced the results late as well as delayed in the revaluation results. Due to this reason, the students said that they had to appear for over 16 examinations in a span of three months due to all the mess created by the university.

As per the university, the year back system made it compulsory for the students that they cannot go to the next year if they failed in more than four subjects. Also the critical year system made it mandatory for the students that the cannot enter the third year if they do not pass their first year papers or cannot enter final year if they do not pass all the second year papers.
