GATE also known as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is a national level entrance examination for the candidates who wish to seek admission in PG courses in the field of engineering and technology. Interested candidates can get admissions into M.Tech/Ph.D programmes in IITs, IISc, IISERs and other institutions through GATE score. The examination every year is organised in seven zonal IITs and IISs on rotational basis. For this year GATE examination is conducted by IIT Guwahati. For this examination apart from admissions, the score of GATE examination is also considered as one of the criteria for recruitment in the government and private organisations working in technical fields.
The exam dates for the candidates who wish to appear in the examination may keep in notice of these days: Application date release will take place on 1st September 2017, last date to submit the application form is 5th October, Admit card will be available 5th January 2018, GATE 2018 examination date is 3rd, 4th February and 10th, 12th February 2018 and timings would be Forenoon 9 am to 12 noon and Afternoon 2 pm to 5 pm.The answer key for the examination will be released on just a few days after examination. The result will be declared on 17th March 2018. Downloading of Score card will begin from last week of March 2018 to last week of may 2018. The counselling will commence from the second week of April 2018.
The candidate need to register themselves for the examination and for that all the candidates need to apply online. Application process for the International candidates is as same as Indians. They should have a valid passport to apply for the examination. The registration fees fr women candidate is Rs 750, SC/SC/PwD candidates is Rs 750, for all other candidates the registration fees is Rs 1500 and GATE International candidates US Dollars 50.
The eligibility criteria for the candidates of BE/B.Tech/B.Pharm is 4-years B.Tech (after 10+2) in any stream or 3-years B.Tech lateral entry (after B.Sc./Diploma in Engineering/Technology). Final year candidates may also apply and the status of degree should be Pursuing final year examination or completed and year of passing 2018. For B.Arch it should be 5-years bachelor’s degree in Architecture and the status should be Pursuing final year examination or completed. For B.Sc Research/B.S the status should be 4-years Bachelor’s degree in Science (post-diploma or after 10+2) and the status should be Pursuing final year examination or completed. For M. Sc./M.A./MCA or equivalent and the status is Master’s degree in Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and year of passing should be Currently in final year or completed. For Int. M.E/M.Tech (Post-B.Sc.) and the status should be 4-years Post-BSc Integrated Master’s degree programs in Engineering / Technology and should be presently in 2nd/3rd/4th year or completed, For Int. M.E./M.Tech or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2) and the status 5-years Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering/Technology and Currently in 4th/5th year or completed. For the candidates wish to apply for Int. M.Sc/Int. B.S.-M.S. and status should be Integrated M.Sc. or Five year integrated B. S./M. S. program and Pursuing final year examination or completed. For Professional Society Examination equivalent to B.Tech/B.E./B.Arch and the status B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g., AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers India) and status Completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses.
