Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to suffer admission issues

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana holds the maximum number of engineering colleges in India. The admission has been reduced by 30% comparative to the admissions in the last three years. The total number of colleges in Telangana is 266 in which 112 colleges has faced a low students strength. A low enrollment of 2,874 students, in 2016-17 academic year, as against the previous strength of 41,628 in 112 colleges has decreased comparatively. The ministry of human resource development has kept a check on the student strength and reportedly said that there is a huge decrease in the registration of students.

Andhra Pradesh also holds a large number of colleges. The total number of 325 colleges, the registered students in 309 were 5,687 while the sanctioned strength was 47,640. Both the colleges of the state has experienced a huge decrease in the number of students. This year All India Council of Technical Education has sent a notice that the colleges with poor enrollment of students will not be granted permission to enroll this year. Some universities are affiliated with these colleges. The private colleges has set a certain entrance test and without qualifying the test no aspirant is given admission. This is one of the factor that adds to not having a good strength in colleges.

Some universities still grants permission to the candidate irrespective of the merit list. JNTUH has delayed the sanctioning of affiliations to many colleges for four years. This has forced many students to seek admission in other colleges or universities. Also, the university failed in building an industry-academia ecosystem. The university also lacked some of the basic requirement. Candidate who are seeking for admission has to qualify the entrance exam. Many universities give admission irrespective of the merit list. The states who suffered the most low enrollment are Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
